The concept of health systems extends far beyond the frontiers of health care to involve various sectors directly or indirectly related to a population's health. Health status is largely influenced by the quality of the environment. Given the growing body of evidence suggesting a significant burden of environmental pollution in the GCC region, the KHI is dedicating efforts, in collaboration with leading environmental groups, to address the fundamental topic of environmental health and support the adoption and implementation of protective legislation.
