MENA Health Policy Forum | June 2010

The MENA Health Policy Forum, in association with the Jordanian Ministry of Health, WHO and The World Bank, is organizing its second regional conference under this year's theme of "Achieving Better Health Equity and Efficiency in the Middle East & North Africa". The event will be held in Amman, Jordan on June 6-7, 2010.

The Conference aims to provide a platform for reviewing the state of research and evidence available from the region in order to identify key policy and research gaps. Lessons from global experiences will also be examined to assess their suitability and adaptability to the region. The Conference will focus on two critical aspects of the health system: (i) Equity in health and healthcare, and (ii) Quality and Efficiency of Healthcare.

Flagship Course on Health Sector Reform & Sustainable Financing | October 2010

The 2008 Flagship Course on Health Sector Reform and Sustainable Financing was a joint offering of the Harvard School of Public Health and the World Bank Institute, continuing and sustaining this highly successful experience over ten years, with the course offered under World Bank Institute auspices in Washington, D.C. since 1997 and at Harvard University in 2003 and 2004. The Flagship Course introduces a practical and comprehensive framework for understanding health systems and their performance and a structured approach to developing health system strengthening and reform policies to improve that performance. Specific course modules examine the theoretical and empirical basis for reform strategies in such diverse areas as health financing, payment systems, organizational change, regulation, and population and provider behavior, making extensive use of case materials from countries in all regions and at all levels of development. The course will also examine the issue of gender and health and looks at gender gaps in service delivery and how it affects health outcomes.
