Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 08:08PM Ali K. Bourisly is Editor-in-chief of the Science & Technology section at KHI. He is a PhD candidate in Biomedical Engineering at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Massachusetts. He is a research assistant at the Advanced MRI Center, Department of Radiology, at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. His research focuses on functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and optimization algorithm design and development for fMRI. He is also readily seeking more knowledge in the emerging field of neuroeconomics.
Ali has been involved in fMRI collaborative research projects with investigators from Harvard Medical School, MGH Institute of Health Professions, and from the Center for Comparative Neuroimaging at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He is also a principle investigator on an fMRI research project, and is a member of several professional societies. In 2008, Ali was a visiting fellow at the renowned MGH/HMS/MIT Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging.
After earning his BSc degree in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University in 2005, he worked as a field engineer on GE Healthcare diagnostic imaging systems in Kuwait. Ali also completed a ME degree in Biomedical Engineering at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2008.
